My system used to be completely stable, now after i added my Nec-3500A it crashes sometimes when im in a game or sometimes just in windows (running seti). My specs are:

A7n8x
2500+ barton oced to 3200+ @ 200FSB
1 gig 3200 corsair
9700 pro
5 Fans
Antec tru power 430
DVD ROM
CD Burner
Nec-3500A
Seagate Cheetah x15 36g
Seagate 40g

Am i running to many things for my PSU? Should i upgrade to something like a 500 watt?

My +12 is only at around +11.5 but all my other voltages seem fine (in MBM).
My coltages in the bios are
VCORE - 1.79
+3.3 - 3.28
+5 - 4.89
+12 - 12.09

Im always running seti so my system is always at 100% CPU.

i dont think its a power supply problem, id start trouble shooting at your memory timings and that overclock your running on your processor a 430 antec should be suffecient for that set-up

Ive been running this setup fine for about a year, i just upgraded to the 9700 pro a couple months ago but it was stable after that. It just got unstable after i added the DVD burner.

Maybe something is wrong with my DVD burner...

ya, i figured my PSU was fine. Does anyone know why my 12 is so low when im in windows its only at like 11.5, could that be what causes my instability.

Well...11.5 volts on the 12 volt rail wouldn't make me happy, but I'm not sure it would cause your problem. It is very unlikely that the new DVD play could be responsible for this problem. I have had a Antec 430 True Power in my system for a year and it is rock solid...BTW...my 12 volt rail never goes below about 11.85.. take that for what its worth. If there is another PC in the house, or if you have a willing friend with a PC...pull the PS and slave it into your system and run a test to see if your problem is repeatable....or just buy another PS...if it doesnt fix the problem it never hurts to have a spare around in the ole PC parts bin.. Have you disconnected the DVD player(power and IDE cable) to see if the problem goes away?

Your psu should run that system easily. As far as the 12v rail.... measure it with a good meter, never count on a voltage reading or temp reported in windows as being correct. If it measures 11.5v with a meter, you need to find out why.

True power 430 will run a much higher load w/o issue.

I use the HW monitoring programs just for a base referance only. They're really only good for monitoring a sudden change.

As far as i can tell the problem seems to go away when i pull the power to the dvd burner. That could either mean the psu craps out or the burner is bad. The problem happens pretty randomly though, so its kind of hard to tell if its the burner or something else. I have a few other systems so ill swap out the PSUs tomorrow.
