Do I need a laptop or will a notebook(net book do)?

I am searching for some sort of portable device. I want something that will let me surf the web, plays videos from youtube, and is fairly lightweight.
Which device do I need?

How expensive are we talking about? Acer i3's and i5's regularly go on sale. AMD E-350 version netbooks are better then the Atom series. Atoms are pretty useless in the HD video department.

Just to be clear, laptop=notebook. Netbook=underpowered, slightly cheaper notebook.

And budget information would be useful. Also, netbook hardware also means a smaller, lower resolution screen.

300-400 dollars

At that price you can get a full fledged notebook. Are there any Best Buys in your area? Go check them out, see what they have to offer at those prices. Also, Staples/Office Depot often have sales at $350 or so I have read.

I'd recommend at minimum something with an E-350. Those are in your exact price range, get great battery life and can be purchased as a near netbook sized unit with 11.6" screen, all the way to normal notebook sized with bigger screens.
