Do I need a heatsink and fan for retail x2 4400?

It comes with a heatsink. The stock AMD heatsink is actualy pretty good. I have my 4200+ @2.53ghz(so far) and my load temp is only 51c with 2 instances of Prime95 running. A lot of people are saying they only get about a 2c improvement even with an XP-120.

From what I have heard the stock HSF is pretty good, but do your CPU a favor by removing the HSF thermal pad and replace it with Arctic Silver 5 instead.

wtf? where do you see this? anybody who knows anything about building computers always removes the thermal pad and puts on as5.

to the op - the manf would not bundle a hsf that would not be adequate. the stock will be fine unless you o/c, and this is with either amd or intel. putting a hsf in a retail package that does not do the job would be just plain stupid.
