do I need a dual core patch or anything?

I have just installed my e6400 and was wondering if there was some sort of dual core patch or something I would need for xp or gaming.

I was wondering because I rand 3dmark 06 and on the cpu stress test it ran at 0 to 1 fps.

Is it a fresh install of Windows? Do you have the right HAL in your device manager?

HAL is Hardware Abstraction Layer. If you had upgraded your PC and not reinstalled Windows then you may have had a single core HAL installed. If you did a fresh install then you will have the correct ACPI Multiprocessor PC under Computer in your Device Manager.
