Do I need a dock/cradle?

Well I finally got my first mp3 player, managed to snag a new Sony a816 for $30. Anyway, I want to hook it up to my stereo. I currently have a mini-to-RCA cable. Other than re-charging the unit and having a stand would there be any advantage to buying the dock Sony makes for the unit?

Docks keep your unit in place (assuming you've secured the dock). You also can't lose the dock behind your gear as easily as a cable.
