It does not matter much. My prefrence is to install Chipset drivers first (Intel says you must install chipset first) and reboot. Then I install the graphic drivers to make my work easier. Then I install LAN drivers and download or update the rest of them.

Technically, DirectX is a published "requirement" for a graphics card, so I would suggest installing it first. At the end of day does it matter? Probably not, but it makes sense to me to install it first.

I guess you guys dont install nvidia stuff often.. many times it says dx is required

http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-010475.htm - Off intels site

1. Operating system service packs or patches available from Microsoft* ?(e.g. Service Pack 1 for Windows* XP)

2. Intel® Chipset Software Installation Utility (if required)

3. Microsoft DirectX* 9.0 or later

4. Intel video/graphics driver (e.g. Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver)

5. Intel® Matrix Storage Technology or Application Accelerator

6. Sound/audio drivers

7. LAN/network drivers

I'm only concern with first 3. Rest is any order.

I always do Direct x before graphics and sound drivers, but after most other drivers.

It doesn't really matter but I prefer to install the video drivers first then Direct X 9.0C when I update Windows to SP2.
