i keep reading things that hint that the nforce2 unlocks everything. do i have to do pencil tricks and those sorts of things anymore. have been out of the athlon overclocking loop for a while.

i just got my msi-k7n2g-l today and have a xp2100 and xp1900 (palamino though...) . figured i might as well give it a shot.

also does anyone know if this board would have 1/6 pci divider at 400 bus?

The nForce2 boards only unlock chips whose L1 bridges weren't cut at the factory ruling out most, if not all, Palomino chips. The good news is that you can probably run that chip at 166MHz FSB with ease at the default multiplier if you don't want to replace the chip. More good news is that awesome AthlonXP 2100+ Tbred "B" chips can be had for $87 shipped at NewEgg. I am using one of them right now at default voltage at 166MHz FSB at the default multiplier on my 8RDA+ and it is completely stable.

Either way you can't go wrong.

I can't answer your question about that specific board, but on my 8RDA+ my PCI bus is locked at 33MHz, the AGP bus is lockable at a number of frequencies, and the memory bus can be run locked with the CPU or at some % of the CPU FSB frequency (75%, 100%, 125%, etc...). There is no need for a divider.

im pretty sure (although not 100% as its not "official" for some boards i think) that pci is always at 33.3mhz no matter what
ive gone 200+ on my a7n8x and pci still worked fine (no hd corruption, sound fubar, network fubar) so im assuming its locked

agp can be locked to a number of different frequencies that you can choose

the highest mult on that mobo, as far as i can tell wtihout personal experience, is 13 i think

on palomino, without unlocking it, you cant change mult

That's all very similar to my 8RDA+ but the lack of CPU multipliers is saddening if you are right. 13??? My board goes up into the 20s and they work, I used 24 x 100 just for giggles before I did an 18 x 133. Both post as 2.4GHz. :)
