Do I have to restore my Ipod to factory and then resync after XP reload?

.) Reloaded XP
.) Reloaded iTunes
.) Let iTunes search my external/network drive for music
.) All music shows up on iTunes and plays just fine.
.) My iPod has stayed out in my car and did not try to resync after reinstall of XP
.) After ripping 2 new CD's to library and being able to access and play them on my PC I tried to now sync my iPod w/ the latest library files.
.) Plugged iPod back in for the first time since reload of XP. It installed the iPod and showed the device as ready to use.
.) Noticed it does not auto start iTunes but displays "Do Not Disconnect" until I manually start iTunes and select "Eject iPod".
.) If I try to sync iPod to current library, I do not get those 2 latest albums. I do not get any errors it just shows the iPod updating and then nothing.
.) There is a connection through USB and my iPod shows up under iTunes, it just doesn't actually sync any new files or edits.
.) Does this sound like a issue related to having a past iPod library and now trying to sync it with a new XP reload/iTunes reload Library?
.) So do I have to restore my iPod to factory, and then let it resync all 32gbs of data each time I reload my OS?

Thanks, I was trying to make my steps clear by numbering them, sorry if it is confusing.
