Do I have to buy another copy of Half-Life?

I bought half-life when it first came out and now recently playing half-life. I have half-life loaded on two computers with the same cd-key playing on the internet. The problem I am having is I can't get one of the computers in. I get the cd-key in use message. I am NOT asking for a cd-key. I just want to know if there's a way I can use a setting in my SMC Router to trick the server thinking it's the same computer. If not, then I am willing to buy half-life, but was wondering where is the cheapest place to get it.

I ran halflife on two computers at home for about a month using one cd key. Half the time it work and the other half it wouldn't. It became such a pain that I just went and bought another copy.

no you cannot connect two computers to the same game with halflife...(it authenticates via CDkey and NOT ip address)...you CAN go change the CDkey in the registry (vs reinstalling the game) and there is even a way to have a secondary key inserted into the registry...that way if one CDkey is in use it will goto the other one...or if you run a server on one and connect with another machine...but basically there is no good way to get around getting another copy for your other machine if you want to play them at the same time...
servers will allow only ONE connection per CDkey (this is authnticated @ WON, so if it works at the same time sometimes it is because sometimes you connect to east and the other connects to west, ect...and they dont have time to deny the authentication)...hope that helps! 🙂
