Do I have enough?

I'm I going to be able to use my system with directx 10 and vista? It almost sounds like you will be missing out on a lot of features if you don't have certain vid cards. Can anyone explain what the new directx and vista will need to use properly? thanks

Not much can be said at this point, because the hardware requirements are not finalized, and nobody really knows (probably most people inside Microsoft aren't even sure yet!). However, your system is fairly modern, and I don't see how you'd have much problem running Vista on it, other than your 512MB of RAM which would be better off at 1GB.

I know I need to get more RAM and that is in the works, my main concern is what my vid card will do with directx 10

Your card will most likely not be completely Directx10 compliant, in that it won't support all of DX10's features.

But most features will be supported, including Aereo. And games will be backwards compatible with DX9 for a long time, seeing as to how not a single DX10 card has been released as of yet.

Get more RAM and Vista will run fine. It's the people with their Hewlet Packard P4s at 1.4 GHz, 256MBs of RAM and integrated video who will have problems.

I was able to run the December CTP on my 1.6 ghz Pentium M with 512 Megs and a discrete GeForceFX Go 5200. It wasn't fast... but it worked. If I downed the video options, lost the GUI pretty pictures, it'd be just fine.
