"Do I have enough RAM" question

" Paging File 1.3 GB typically w/ 4 x 512 Mushkin 2-2-2 DDR"

Hello !

I have been experiencing slow-ness on my Asus P4C800 system.

specs -

it's OC'ed 10% to 3.3.

msi nVidia 6600 w/ 256 MB RAM

running mostly browser windows & 3D CAD applications & scanner
software & photoshop.

i like to run Opera because my vision isn't so good and it allows me
to run at 150% page viewing size.

my page file is 1.3 GB today.

i'm wondering if this is a sign that more memory would save me
some time.

thanks !

roger

Browswer windows don't really eat up that much ram, however CAD and photoshop do love the stuff.

Without moving to a 64 bit capble system then you aren't going to be able to make good use of more than the 2GB you already have.

It might be worth looking at how you use the system, if all these applications are being used at the same time then there might be a requirement to use a dual core CPU rather than increasing the ram.

thanks a lot for the info.

i always like having a good reason to spend more money on computer stuff ! ! ! 😀

i had a Trek 820 bicycle, inherited from a neighbor. i threw it on top of my
truck, and left it there for a few months.

i was giving idle thought to getting an Intel 820. isn't that the # for the dual-CPU
2.8 GHz processor ?

so i'd have a matching bicycle & CPU.

but, my delay in buying a chain (already had a lock) finally caught up to me. someone stole the bike. :-(
