i just pulled a cpu out of my moms old computer, and i was wandering if you could help me identify if this cpu can be overclocked, and if so, by how much.

it is a true slot 1 intel celeron. from what i know of it, it is a 333 mhz... there is a screen printed label on the back of it that has this on it:

99220032-SL2WN
333/66 MALAY

it is a "bare" chip, meaning that it does not have the black cover on the processor, just the chip itself. can anyone help me? thanks!!

sweet... what kind of cooling should i try? it has a cooler master f&hs on it now, but im sure that will not cut it... should i try a Golden Orb, or something even better than that?

I would use what you have now.. Leave your case open if you're worried about heat when testing it out.

If it crashes after running at an overclocked speed for a while, or cpu temps get extremly high (60-90c) A better heatsink/fan setup could help. In almost all cases, a better heatsink/fan won't help it boot at a higher speed, just make it more stable and last longer :)

Just letting you know since I upgraded from an intel retail to an alpha heatsink and didn't notice any difference (except temps).

All the 333@500 oc's I have done have been with stock Intel heatsink+fan, nothing fancy.
