I recently built a new computer for myself but every since it was finished it randomly locks-up on hot days. I usually have to end up turing the AC in my room to the max coolness and then the computer doesn't lock up any more. I have an Athlon 1.4 with and epox 8k7a, NOT overclocked. The case is a Lian Li PC 60 with all the fans running at max speed. My PSU is an Enermax 350 Watt whisper model. The outtake fan seem slike to be running at max speed also. I'm using just the stock HSF and running Win ME.

On hot days it just locks-up like crazy starting when I frist turn it on in the morning, but once the AC gets going for a bit and cools down the room the lock-ups stop. According to the BIOS i get a CPU temp of 54C, but if I crank on the AC then the CPU temp goes down to about 46C. On cooler days it doesn't happen, but this is the summer so days in teh 70's don't happen too often here in the North East.

How can i fix this heat problem??

I have a very similar case. You don't mention the case temps or your HSF. But I was able to decrease my system temp by around 5C by opening up the front bezel in front of the 2 80mm intake fans. This also lowers the CPU temp by the same amount. The front bezel on the older style PC12/60's seems to restrict the airflow too much. The easiest way to test this is to take off the bezel and watch your system temp. Mine doesn't change now.

You should also consider switching to a real cooler instead of the stock one. Your heat problems should go away. The stock HSF that came with my 1.33 is really bad.

Thanks for the suggestion, but i don't really feel comfortable modding a 170 dollar case right now. I 'd hate to mess it up or do something worst.

I might switch out the HSK tho, what do you reccomend? I want Max coolness with minimal nose. I'll probalby use some of that ASII thermal compound with it.

max coolness with minimal noise...the taisol will prolly best suit you. I like cool and loud. Performence not loudness matters to me...but if you want quiet and cool...taisol will do the job. Compuwiz-tech.com has em for a good price...he's a great dealer...

Thanks for the suggestion, at Compuwiz-tech.com thare are 2 taisol HSF which one is better?

Taisol CGK760092 w/copper base insert

Taisol CGK742092B . Big Bad Voodoo Daddy!

The only reason i want a quiet one is because the computer goes to school with me in fall and i don't want it to be so loud that it keeps people up. So quiet is good :)
