Do I have a heat problem??

I just built my first computer in about 15 years, (been a laptop person). I've got an athlon XP 2500, a MSI K7N2 Delta mobo, and a Speeze WhisperRock II running at 2700 rpm pushing 37 cfm. (using arctic silver ceramic). I've also added a case fan runnng at about 5K rpm pushing 34 cfm.

At idle, and I mean idle (boot up and go into the bios, no OS loaded), the bios says I'm running at 48-50c on my cpu and 40c on my system. From what I've seen on the net, that seems a little high. Am I alright at that temp? Anyone run into problems with the mobo returning bogus temp readings? Any suggestions? Thanks

I though the cpu ran at 100% in the bios?

use an app that came with your mobo or something like speedfan/MBM5 and see what it's like in windows, then run prime95 or something for 15mins while watching the temp.

50C is fine, just need to check it isnt going at like 70+ when under load or something. Though, if it isnt crashing, then really there isnt a problem.

I don't know about that mobo and temp reading, but given the HSF, that's probably about right, and should be fine. Most people bragging or asking about their temps spent more than $15 on CPU cooling 🙂. 40C system, as in case temp? Might want to look into case airflow if that's the case.
