Do I have a defective MX518?

Is the MX518 sloppier than the 510 or is mine actually defective? Sometimes when I move the mouse wheel one notch it does not scroll. I find this frustrating as the MX510 was 100% reliable - one notch = 1 scroll value

Some websites are just screwy like that as well though. Firingsquad locks up my scroll botton for no reason sometimes, regardless of the mouse, or computer I use.

My MX-510 started freezing/lagging up on me after a year of use.
Kinda disappointing, but i guess things just don't last these dayz.

Wow, I got a new MX518 from Circuit City today. The scroll wheel is 100% different. I think I still prefer the MX510 but it has been completely overhauled from the original MX518. It works oh so very much better.

1 - I had an actual defect in my old scroll wheel
2 - The scroll wheel feels much better and is smoother.
3 - The mouse's movement is way, way smoother. I'm not sure if I had another defect in the sensor of my first MX518 or if the new one is a new revision and improved.
