I have been looking for a cheap Vista Ultimate package. Today I received an email from a guy who sells Vista Ultimate retail for $100 and only accepts CC through Google Checkout.

I received an invoice from him and it looks legit. Since I am paying with my CC and through google checkout, I can get my money back if he ends up not sending or it is a fake version, right?

I'm usually pretty confident buying with a CC. CC companies (In my experience) really dont play games with your charges. If you say you didnt make it they take it right off.

My gut is to go through with it....because if he is a scammer....Microsoft will have his ass. Either way I get Ultimate cheap or my money back....

something tells me your either getting a "student" version or a copied version. If he's a private party and cannot take a pic of the box/hologram then I'd stay away.

Wait, you are actually going to buy software from a spam mailing? You deserve what you have coming to you.

If it wasn't spam how did the guy get your e-mail address?

Too. Many. Jokes.

Done! Actually, it is becoming more than just this.

After I reported him and sent MS pdf's of everything, I continued to ask this guy for "proof". After several emails of him saying he is a private intity....and me getting no where....I called him out.

I advised him that it was in his best interest to prove to me that this was legit and that if he did not do that and give me his contact information....I would take it to the next level.

He then proceeded to threaten me and told me to be "expecting" something(threat of somesort) and then provided my shipping address.

What can he do? What will he do? Can I take these threats to authorities and get this muthaphucka caught and held responsible for his actions?

You're an internet vigilante!

Yeah, good luck with that. I'm sure super-vague internet threats are on the very top of your local PD's list of things to do.

So you decided to buy this questionable software, put in your CC info, etc, AND THEN you come ans ask if it was a good idea?

Now you threaten him by telling him you're going to tell on him? Why didn't you just say no and back out and leave it at that? Why instigate more trouble for yourself?

i'm confused...did he actually buy it or are you just assuming he did?

based on what he said, it sounds like the guy got his info (probably from his name in the email) by looking him up on google or something.

I never put in my CC number...but to send the invoice he needed my address.

I am actually getting some very funny emails from him (threats) of saying he has connections in apartments near me. What a coinsidance right? The guy is from California...but just happens to have connections in apartments near me...

I really want to nail this dude now.
