Do I get the 1700+ or 2100+ Thoroughbred from NewEgg?

Do I get the 1700+ or 2100+ Thoroughbred from NewEgg? Which one will offer me the best post-overclock value? If I order from NewEgg, are they both guaranteed to be revision/stepping with the excellent overclock-ability? What about the 1700+ and 2100+'s from Googlegear?

they don't guarantee steppings on the 1700/2100+s iirc....if you want guaranteed steppings, check out excaliberpc.com. those dlt 1700 0310w seem to oc very well.

It does come at a price, it is about $30 more and I didn't include the tax or shipping, so it could be double the price of getting a 1700+ from google.

Aren't all the Thoroughbred B 2100+'s supposed to be good though? I haven't really seen people specify steppings for those. But I know I have seen those long alphanumeric strings for the 1700+'s. Also, is it possible to get one of the good overclockers from googlegear. All the posts I have read say they have bought their CPU from NewEgg.

The 1700+ from googlegear are reported to be DUT3C week 311-312, which are good but not nearly as good as those famed DLT3C 310. But you gotta ask yourself, are the 100 - 300 mhz worth paying nearly double (esp. for CA residents that havta pay about $10 shipping and tax). The 2100+ however from gg are likely one of the better 2100+ in the market. They are green pcb and often hit 166x13 at default vcore.

Excaliberpc, get the XP1700 0310WPM stepping, these are pretty much guaranteed 2.2-2.4ghz range.

What are the chances of getting a 'B' version for the retail 2100+ from Newegg? I ordered one, but I'm afraid I might end up with an 'A' version.

I assume that since the OEM versions are listed as being Rev. B at Newegg, then the Retail versions are also Rev. B, but exact week is by the luck of the draw.

On the 1800+ OEM it is listed as being DLTC3 (1.5v), but not Rev. B (I assume they're all Rev. B). I ordered a retail 1800+ about a week ago and got a 0308 DLTC3 JIUHB SPMW.

I just ordered a second 2100+ from newegg.
The first one I ordered was an 0302 and hit 2.2ghz perfectly stable
That was ordered february.
The one I just got in the mail is an 0301, but I won't be trying it out for another week.

I have a 2100 REV B that I got from Newegg a few weeks ago and it hits (16x133) 2130MHZ at stock everything with no problems running at 35 degrees. I will try more aggresive fsb speeds when I get better memory. I think that either of the 2100 or the 1700 have great potential. I would go the Newegg route.

I purchased the XP2100+ from Googlegear for about $84 with a stepping of 0301 a few weeks back.
I haven't even tried that hard and this chip is stable overclocked. I set it to 166FSB, 13 Multiplier and a 1.6 Volt(normal) and it registered as an XP2700+. Ran prime for over 2 days without a glitch at around 2.166MHZ (XP2700+). In my eyes, this chip is def gonna overclock lots more.

You are pretty much guarenteed to get a good 2100+ stepping. I don't think its worth buying an expensive t bred 1700+ at exalibur, when you can get a 2100+ for the same price. If you have a frys near you, check that out. I've been going to frys every week and checking the cores and waiting for the right one. YOu can buy and return them there too, if you aren't satisfied.
