Do hot dogs go bad?

gopunk

i have some really good all-beef kosher hot dogs in my fridge, but i left the package open for like a month.... there isn't any mold on them, though there seems to be some congealed oil... what do you guys think?

LOL!

They certainly can, but if they were in your fridge I bet they're fine.. they may taste a little funny unless you have a very clean fridge.

Just nuke them real good.

I've gotten sick on hotdogs more times than I care to remember. Ever since the Big Hotdog Meldown of 2001, in which I lay praying to die for three days, unable to vomit but wanting to more than anything, I don't take any chances. I wouldn't touch them with a ten foot stick, with hornets' nest or without.

If they were stored at room temperature you'd be a fool to eat 'em.

But hotdogs are precooked before they're packaged, so there's not a whole lot of risk if they've been refrigerated.

Make sure you (re-)cook them well so they get good and hot all the way through if you're gonna eat 'em.

I'd eat 'em. But I'm a bachelor.
