Do high-quality video cables/connectors really make a difference?

I am trying to get the best picture possible out of my Compro Videomate TV Ultra and I am hoping that the higherquality cables/connectors make a difference. The picture is almost perfect as it is, going all out to get it the best I can. I picked up 2 of these and one of these. For the low price and free shipping, its a pretty good deal. Cheaper than it would cost my to get im my car and burn 5-6 bucks worth of gas to go get it locally. Crazy, huh?

Anyway, now I'm looking for connector that is just a female on one side and male on the other to connect directly to the port on the surge protector. That way I can use the least amount of cable possible - only 2 cables coming out of the surgeprotector - one to the TV tuner and the other to the cable modem. I have this setup now except everything is the cheap radio shack crap and there is the cable between the surge protector and the splitter which I'm trying to eliminate.

Any suggestions and opinions would be appreciated!

Worst advice EVAR!!!!
<<<<<<< Coming from a guy who used to have all MONSTER Cables...
I learned how overpriced they were and now shop at:
Cablesforless
Partsexpress
Monoprice

Don't buy Monster unless you like bending over with no vaseline.....

good spilter makes a BIG difference especially with TV card on computer. I once use a TV signal spilter from dollar store and the result was horrible. Hope that the one you are buying is a good quality one. If it is a good quality one, it is a good price because of FREE shipping.

Yes, good cables can make a difference. That said, almost all of the "good" cables at retail stores are OVERPRICED and not worth it. Look for cables online...listen to Frank.

IF thats the case and you are so Pro-Monster... I have a $150 Monster HDMI cable I'll sell you for the bargain value price of ONLY $50!!!!! thats more than 50% OFF!!!

Geez... I can't believe how many ppl buy into the Monster Crap.
I talked to a Hamon Kardon Audio Specialist when I needed help configuring my speakers and asked what type of speaker cable I should use... I already spent $200 on monster speaker cable... but I wanted to hear it from them... and you know what they said? "14 Gauge well insulated speaker cable" and I said... "Like Monster Cables"... the guy laughed and told me I didn't need to spend that much money when I can buy other cables for 70% less that is just as good performance wise. I proceeded to kick myself.

I learned alot about monster especially with advice from ppl like yoyo here on ATOT 🙂

Right Sarcasm....

Monster is not all crap, but they pricing is. There are many other vendors selling as good or higher quality cable for cheaper... Much cheaper.

However high quality cables are necessary for long runs. The quality needed depends on the noise floor / emi / quality of electrical wiring and connections in your location. Older homes (say 20+ years) will show emi and electrical related issues faster than newer homes on new Electrical boxes in new areas (all new wiring). Not that the wire has degraded, its just newer code designations require a different / better method of laying cable.

Usually the cause though is the cable company so those with Dish network, Directv have a better chance to have a better signal quality.

Also running a whole house 3 stage surge protector/line conditioner will even out your power issues thus not requiring such fancy cables. Devices by Panamax and Leviton that mount before your electrical box can assist in creating a cleaner (i.e. more steady) power flow in your house extending the life of your light bulbs and helping the quality of your signals and sound.

The difference between the best cables and good cables is hardly noticible, unless the rest of your system is A-1 Super quality....

Well the cables and splitter that I got will undoubtedly be better than the crap I'm using now - the-cheap-junk-that-comes-with-VCR-that-just-slide-over-the-connector BS.

I linked to the items I bought in the OP in case anyone wants to critique....

Yes they do...you can't buy a $10 DVD player with a $200 TV and expect a $400 cable to make all the difference in the world though.

Right, if you don't have 2-3K in equipment, you may not notice the difference.

Now if you have a projector or 50+ inch TV and a 3000+ speaker and component system... you will.

For those of us running B&W and Paradigm, Rotel or such... Yes they are worth it.

Never buy A/V cables anywhere other than monoprice.com. Without a doubt, the best deals out there. I got a 6' HDMI to DVI cable on there for like $6 and had it in 3 days.

As for quality, I can't say I notice any difference at all running that cable vs the components I was using on my HDTV Only cables that really made a difference for me were going from component to fiber optic for my audio. Even that was minimal but I noticed a difference.
