Hi everyone ,

I just saw some info about vantec ultra silica gel. Looks like a gasket that goes between your case & fan.

Has anybody tried this or something silimilar ? Does it make a difference ?

Jose

Mostly vibration, which causes a bit of noise. If you have a loud fan they won't help much.

I did grommets for my case fans and I think it did help cut down on vibration. It is probably less usefull if you have a nice case. My case is a cheapie powmax with no real internal frame so it is prone to vibration.

Anytime. If you want to save a few bucks, Home Depot has a huge selection of them.

what do they call them? Just ask the salesperson for rubber grommets? What about heatshrink tubing?

Not all rubber grommets are created equal and many people report that your average grommet don't work as well as softer ones. Check out SilentPCReview.com for more info.

I've used tried them on low speed 120mm fans, didn't seem to make a difference.

I'm also curious on where to get them at Home Depot.
