Do grocery stores use the same suppliers for store-brand cereal?

I normally buy Kellogs Frosted Flakes, and they had them for like $3.00 or something like that...but they were all out. So I just decided to pick up a boc of store-brand Food Lion Frosty Flakes that were $1.75 for the same number of ounces.

I just tried some and they taste EXACTLY the same. Why the hell would anyone pay for the name brand stuff?😉

No they are not always the same suppliers. Sometimes they buy stuff that did not meet the quality expectations of the big name producers, other times they produce it themselves. Depends on the grocery store.

And the product. They may have different suppliers for different knock-offs. Same thing for sodas, etc, all the 'grocery' brands will vary by chain and product. So, you gotta ask yourself, do I feel lucky? Well, do ya?

For me, being cheap is a no-win situation--the knock-off stuff is :disgust:

Krogers (midwest gorcer chain) make a hot sauce that tastes pretty good. Much cheaper than Frank's Red Hot sauce. Just thought I'd share 😛

Actually all the Meijer brands I have tried taste distinctly different (and not good!) compared to the name-brand. ESPECIALLY the frosted flakes!

oh man... the cocoa puffs version of the store stuff SUCKS BALLS. so do the shredded mini wheats. after those two debacles i stopped trying. i just stock up on cereal when it's on sale and i have copuons 🙂

Kroger actually produces almost all of its storebrand items themselves. They have several processing plants throughout the U.S.
