Yes, they look better for pretty much everything.

Don't even think about getting a non-flat monitor.

Make sure it will do 1600x1200 at a reasonable refresh rate (>-75 hz).

BNC inputs are a nice plus, as are dual inputs.

well some of us have to stick with traditional crt monitors since we can't afford flat panels.;)

There are flat CRTs too! ;)

I use a Sony 21" flatscreen CRT and it is beautiful for everything.

Flat screen CRTs look better than curved CRTs in everything, not just games. With a flat screen the distortion in the image is significantly reduced and things look more natural and what they should look like. Some non-flat monitors are so bad they're akin to looking through a goldfish bowl.

I have a Sony CPD-G420 and it's great.

Flat panels? Flat CRT monitors and Flat Panels are alot different. And I don't have a lot of money either...

My 17" .20pitch Flatscreen cost me only $250 canadian ($165US), and is capable of 1600x1200@75Hz.

It's not a Sony, but it's a nice monitor for that price. I'd rather have it than any non-Flat CRT....and it's not that much more than the non-flat 17". I don't know why they even bother to make the non-Flat CRTs anymore.

The distortion is less, the quality is great, there is almost no glare at all, even on bright days with the blinds open. It's quite amusing...I open the blinds then look at my monitor and my TV (they are about 2 feet apart). I the TV is almost flooded out by the glare, and the monitor looks fine.

Flat CRTs are where it's at. If you can't afford a Sony or a Samsung....look at some lesser brands. Even in the cheaper brands, Flat Screens are very nice.
