Do F1, IRL, CART drivers whore themselves out for sponsors like NASCAR drivers???

I swear, those NASCAR boys blat out more sponsors than you can shake a stick at. Do they think we're so fooking stupid that we can't see the sponsors on their car, fire suit, helmet, pit crew, pit station, rollbar, etc that they have to keep on reminding us??

"Yeah, this Penzoil Home Depot Viagra Goodwrench Tampax machine was good today...just a bit loose in turn two. I crapped my pants on turn 4 back there and I'm gonna need some Tide and Clorox to get the sh!t stains out"

PUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

To answer the question...Yes, they do! watch the winner after a race. I've seen them change the cap they wear 4 or 5 times in ten minutes.

Advertising and the sponsership make it all possible.

They all do it, just in different ways. If someone was willing to just give you millions of dollars so you could drive a race car, I'm sure you'd do the same thing. Sponsors expect something in return for their money.

i know IRL does the hat dance, i think CART does as well though they mostly mention their big sponsor and team name. i've seen a bunch of f1 press conferences and i don't think they do much of that.

I've never seen it to the extent that NASCAR drivers do though. Maybe it's just b/c they vocalize the sponsorship so much. I mean, I may see CART racers get up and thank their team owners, but rarely do I hear them mention a different sponsor in every sentence.

LOL, I've always wondered...What defines white trash?? A definition given to me once is a "Camaro driver that lives in a trailer and eats maionaise sandwiches."

The F1 guys don't have to whore themselves like the rest do. Look at who owns the F1 teams, you have BMW,Ferrari,Williams etc. I believe they flip the majority of the bill because it is in part how they test for their production cars.

I have never seen an F1 driver do this at all. In the post-race coverage I have seen, they just don a team cap and get on the podium to accept their trophy. I suppose it is possible that they do this for European markets, and it is not covered by Speedvision, though.

They do when ever and where ever they can. Problem is, no other class of racing has the household penetrance and popularity of NASCAR at this time, so they can only dream of those kinds of endorsement deals.

NASCAR rules the roost in the US, but F1 is a bigger international sport than champ cars or NASCAR, which is why Michael Schumacher is the highest-paid athlete in the world.

Right, the worldwide TV/licensing money in F1 is huge. Ask Bernie Ecclestone, he's managed to pocket a lot of it for himself. I doubt you could get those prima donna's to sell product in the winner's circle anyway.

CART does it with a little restraint, they're more likely to just mention the primary sponsor, maybe their tire company, and leave it at that.

Nascar is kind of funny, with the bottle of gatorade or coke or pepsi going on the roof of the car as it coasts into victory lane, and the hat changes. And the desparate logo whores in the background of the camera shot while the driver talks :D But somehow, with the plastic lawn chairs, drunken rednecks, confederate flags, and pink flamingos dotting the infield, it all makes sense :p

LOL! True, True.

'The computer ran beatuifully today and I would like to thank Compaq and Intel for providing a great setup today. Neffing was a bit rough at time but Coke cooled me down and NVidia provided the clear view I needed to finish. * changes T-shirt *.
About mid-nef my crew sent me out Mountain biking and I would like to thank Rocky-Mountain, Mavic, Manitou and Shimano for the setup today.'

All drives mention their sponsors, but NASCAR is more noticable (at least in the US) 'cause it is, hands down, the most popular racing series in the states.
"Hat dances" are in all series, but they are boring as hell to watch so you'll rarely see them on TV (annoucers will have a post-race chit-chat and some highlights or something while the dance is going on).

You don't stay in racing by winning races, you stay in racing by keeping yer sponsors happy (of course winning is a good way to keep them happy). No sponsors, no money, no racing. Even Ferrari (who drops over 200 mill a year into it's F1 team) has shell, vodaphone (I think), and Marlboro on its cars too.

bmw doesn't own the team, frank williams does. and frank williams isn't particularly wealthy, hes just really smart and manages his drivers well. i'm not sure if BMW is providing engines in exchange for advertising or if they're throwing some cash in as well.

My sources tell me that BMW does not just give him the engine. Supposedly he pays for it, qand the team is not factory backed. I'm not too sure on this one, but thats what I hear.

What's that got to do with Michael being the highest paid sports figure in the world? You say that Michael can't hold Tiger's jock strap, but I bet Tiger can't pilot an F1 car worth a sh!t compared to Michael so what's your point?

No, F1 just came up with the method of using computers to super-impose sponsors' images on the cars and on certain areas of the track so that they could get more money by having more than one sponsor per area of the car/track. :p

All race teams need the sponsors and their money, and they are usually willing to do just about whatever the sponsor wants as long as they get more money in return. True, NASCAR seems less sophisticated than CART or F1 or ALMS etc, but given the ratings of the series would you change things if you were in charge?

EDIT:
I'm glad to be back living where the word "Kin" is not considered a real word.
You'll have to move out of English-speaking countries if you want to escape "kin", as it's been in Websters since at least 1968. :p IIRC "kin" is a shortened form of "kindred", both of which are related to the word "kind", as in the sense of "being of the same type". In any case, I'm sure that .308nato can back me up when I say that most of us rural Midwesterners aren't as "hick-like" as you'd think. :p

Unless I'm very much mistaken, F1 had pioneered that technology even before that.
