Depending on how much you're willing to spend

These (Shure e2) Are about $80

Extremely good quality with complete isolation from the outside.

That may be a little extreme though.

Probably not as good as the Shure's, but more affordable. Plus you get Sennheiser quality :)

They sound pretty nice so far. If they break in and get better, I'll be all the more happy

i would also recommend these and the 500s (I got a pair for around that price too). These are much better "bang for the buck".

Yeah, headwize and head-fi.org are good sites...for the nicer "canal-phones", I'd look at the new Shures and of course, the Etymotics.

<--Hopes to get a set of Ety ER-6s and an iPod in the near future.

For cheap canal phones your best bet is to get Koss "The Plug" phones. They run about $20 and are easily modified to get much better sound. I've done the mods myself and they make a huge difference. The mods are here.

I got a 5gb IPOD as a gift and will be getting the shure's in the near future.

If someone out there has a ton of money to waste, Shure has a higher end (e5's)

Website seems to be down. But they range from around $400-500.

Have a high and low end driver for each ear. Simply amazing... I know a lot of musicians that use those professionally.

Since I need to buy them at a B&M store (can't wait for shipping - leaving soon)... I've narrowed it down to 2 choices.

I know I said earbuds, but over-the-ears are good too...

Koss ThePlug
Koss KSC-50 - read the KSC-35s were one of the best last year and these are the newer model

Thoughts ?

It won't get to NY by Friday and I just don't really need those that bad to pay extra for quicker shipping.

Didn't I hear that they had a new fulfillment center in NJ?

I have the KSC-50s. I haven't heard the 35s though. Anyway, the 50s are perhaps the best budget headphones you could possibly get. The sound that comes out of these things is amazing for the price. I completly recommend them to anyone.

Well I just picked up Koss ThePlug and I'm not liking the earpiece at all. For one, it's a little defective on the left side (wiggling wires cuts the sound and back)... but the foam itself doesn't fit my ear too well. It goes in and stays, but the bass is non-existant unless I hold it in all the way (sounds good then) though that ain't very comfortable. I'm going to return it for the KSC-50 and see how that sounds...
