Hi, and thanks in advance for any reply's....

Going to upgrade my system early next week, and have been doing some research over the last week or so. I'm currently running a Celery 300A (OC'ed to 450 of course) with 64 megs of PC-100 memory (muskin GH chips if memory serves). That all sets on a Abit BH6.

I really like what I am hearing about the Duron's and look forward to having another AMD processor (last one was a 386-40 ;-)

But is what really has me confussed is the memory requirements. If the FSB is only running at 100 Mhz, why is everyone buying PC133 memory? Obviously, I am wanting to upgrade to 128 megs, just not sure whether to buy another 64 meg PC100 stick, or just bite the bullet and get a 128 meg PC133 stick. I would really appreciate it if someone could explain this one to me.

The second question is which is the best Speed to get??? 600, 650, 700, or 750??? If Anand's 750 review, I didn't see where he stated the OC ability of the 750. But I figure the best bet is the 650... What is everyone else's option???? My only thing is that I want to have a GOOD chance of get to a minimum of 900.

Thanks again,
Talon

P.S. Any good recommnedations on where to buy???

OK, first off you can use your PC 100. The VIA KT 133 chipset does support 133, but does not
require it. I am using my PC 100(Micron) out of my old K6-2 system, and it runs fine.(even at 112 Mhz. :) ) All you have to do is set it at the host clock speed(FSB,100 Mhz). To run it at 133 Mhz, at least on my ABIT KT7, you set it at host clk+ PCI clk (100+33). It is also possible to
set it in 1 Mhz increments on the KT7 and some other socket A boards (Wa-Hoo!)

Now as far as what speed Duron to get, it's hard to lose with any of them. Personally, I have
a 600 that will run stably 900 Mhz with a 15$ CoolerMaster heatsink. I had running at 950 briefly,
but I really have to crank it up, and I must remove the cover off the side of my case to keep it cool enough and stable.(Damn that sucker gets hot! :frown: ) Maxed out, it will post at 1 Gig and it will even load windows, but without some better cooling it just won't run stably
