Do Dual monitors hender performance?

I have two monitors plugged into my Radeon9800PRO. When I play games I usually drag AIM and such onto the second monitor and play on the primary. Does this hurt performace?? I got about the same score in 3DMARK2003 as before. What more can y'all tell me about it?
 
It's always been my impression that video cards divide their power first between screens, and then allocate by application... so theoretically your primary would only get 50% of the juice... Thats the main reason I've always used a secondary video card. Latley I've been doubting that tho... whatever...
