A buddy of mine ended up selling a domain he bought for $8 for $1000... didn't even plan on selling, some guy came and offered him the cash, and he took the deal.

I remember you telling me about that, that was sweet buying a domain for $9 and selling it for $4,000

I've purchased a few domains from FixOfTheDay.com and sold them for $$$

what precentage return did you make on your investment(s)?

Usually buy a domain for $9 and sell it for $80 - $200.

Well I'm one of those boners that has paid over $200 ($225) for a domain.

On top of that, I wanted one domain so much that I gave much consideration to paying $1000 for it...then I woke up to reality.

There is one domain I would gladly pay $1000 - $2000 for but they'll never sell it.

Google? :p

Google is worth millions. This domain has to do with Hot Deals, that's all I will divulge.

You want fatwallet.com! ;)

If your story is true then the party that bought the domain and license went belly-up.

Greed kills some of these sellers. I contacted a domain owner about buying his unused domain. He said he would sell it for $5000. I told him, "no thanks". I was willing to pay up to $600 for it.

He let it expired. I waited 3 months. I just registered it for $8.

Haha, he was an idiot!

I have my eye on a domain I want however it's registered till 2010, not in use either. I'm debating because maybe I should give the guy a call and offer him a nice amount of $250

Anyone have any tips/advice on what my next move should be?

Why would anyone think: adonline.com is worth $30,000?

wtf

you want it...do you really think someone else with bigger pockets may too?

No I don't. I've been watching the domain for over a year and the site has not been developed yet.

You don't understand domainname value.

It's best if nothing was there originally.

the owner is willing to sell me "GoonLine.com" for a measly $8000.

He/she would have a better chance of selling it if he/she marketed it as "GoOnline.com" I bet.

The best one is penisland.com

Which, of course, is PenIsland.com. :p
