Talk to them first. I'd probably also invest in a dog whistle. I'm sure they have really advanced ones nowadays that you can mount and activate when the dogs bark.

If all else fails, the next time you get the flu, drop off all your used tissue at their place. That way they can sit home all day long and hear their dogs bark. They probably work a lot and don't even notice.

Having dogs 'de-barked' is cruel. How would you like if someone cut out your voicebox becauase they thought your voice was a bit annoying? If someone did that to my dog there would be serious problems involving the voicebox of the person who did it...

BTW - my dog only barks when someone comes to the door. And once when he wants outside - hardly annoying to anyone.

Talk to them first. If they refuse to do anything about it then that is when you file a complaint about the noise. But always try to talk to the owners first.

My chocolate lab likes to bark at people that she can see from our back yard, even if they're nowhere near our house. I can't really fault her for it because I appreciate her trying to play the guard dog role. When she gets too excited and doesn't stop barking, we put her training collar on. Using a remote, we can "beep" her when she's barking too much (or shock her if it comes to that). She's gotten to the point where she won't bark at all if she's wearing her training collar.

Our neighbor has what looks to be a sharpei-pitbull mix, and it barks constantly... or at least, that's what I think it is doing. It sounds as if the owners have had its voicebox removed, but the dog has found a way to make a somewhat bark-like sound regardless. It's really weird sounding, and just as annoying as real barking would be. Fortunately, it's not loud enough to be heard when inside the house.

you can call the city for a noise violation if it's happening after hours. this way, you dont have to get the cops involved. and tell all your neighbors to call too!
