Do do it yourself leather repair kits work?

Topic says it all. Has anyone used a do it yourself leather repair kit. How well do they work.

The home kits I've seen looked crappy after they were used, probably better to take it to a pro. What do you need to fix?

No they are horrible and don't work at all, take it to a pro.

I think that if you are meticulous, you might have some success.

I'm not and I can't handle it.

The Shopping Bags did a segment on this very thing not too long ago.. or maybe it was a repeat.. but.. their basic outcome was it didnt work very well and they gave it 1.5 bags out of 4 or something like that

I just scuffed the back corner of my leather couch when it was moved. It's not really in a visable area but I just wanted to fix it anyway. I might just leave it alone if these things don't work though.
