Do digicams have some sort of onboard photo sorting/management ability such as folders?

I am thinking of purchasing a Canon Powershot. I was wondering if I would be able to put the shots into folders on the camera/memory card itself if I am going to go for an extended period without going back to my computer? Thanks in advance.

I have several Canon digicams, and they commonly create and use two folders. One is a numbered image folder and the other is the Canon.msc folder which contains the digicams .CTG data file.

You can add a folder and store pics in it, but not with the camera. That can be done by using a computer and a reader/writer to do the job.

For the situation you describe, and no computer, the best solution is to just carry extra media cards.

Ok hey. So where in the directory structure would I make the new folder and how would I toggle between the folders using the camera? Thanks!

AFAIK, you can't do it in or from the camera. You do that from the computer with a reader/writer.
