probably depends on the laws. if u ghettoize it so that its in sh*t areas only..then maybe not.

Just remember that you have to ignore all reported cases of criminal prostitution in the countries where it is illegal. Otherwise it's not a fair comparison, I would think

dunno, any sex crimes in Nevada?

The major metropolitan areas (the county that L.V. is in, as well as the one that Reno is in) have both made Prostitution illegal. That said, in other areas, I don't think it's a major problem, but of the entire population of nevada, probably >85% (maybe more than 95% now) lives in the two counties in which prostitution is illegal.

Edit: So it isn't really a good example, since you have a tiny population spread over a huge area, in the places where prostitution is illegal, so if there are sex crimes those who commit them may not have access to prostitutes anyway.

Like Nitewulf said... It depends what you consider a sex crime: rape, pedophelia, etc... are pretty much considered criminal anywhere that has law enforcement who are legit. Oral sex is is considered a criminal offense in some places, but prostitution (or soliciting a prostitute) is a misdemeanor offense in some places

Amsterdam has a fair bit of crime related to drug use (hard drugs, not pot). Not really a fair comparison because the prostitution is only peripherally related, though.

I thoguht that was the prob with legalized prostitution....you see a rise in other crime such as hard drug use and abuse. Also you begin to gain gathering "areas" of town where suddenly no one wants to go except for pimps and johns and turning entire blocks into areas that unless the police enforce the law are somewhat lawless.

prostitution has little to do with sex crimes as far as i know. the only crime that decreases with legal prostitution is that of illigal prostitution :p

more...most of those girls are underaged...

It seems it would depend on what form of prostitution is legalized. If street prostitution was just legalized and unregulated then I would expect the above things would probably happen. But if only brothel house style prostitution was legalized, with regulation of the girls like in nevada, then I think there would be a decrease in underage prostitutes and less blocks turning into "bad areas".
