Do Comcast give better ping over DSL? Comcast rates?

Right now my connection is 620/70 on dsl, but my ping is 90 ~ 260, no routers, I would like to switch to comcast for a better latency, but I don't know their price, I live in Richmond, CA. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can find their prices directly on their site, just click on shop and enter your information.

If you're going for the 12mbps package I think its like $50/mo, and for an extra $10/mo you can bump it up to 16mbps or 20mbps depending on location. I think those prices are US wide.

You do have to remember that ping and latency is dependent on hops and other situations. And that you only get 250gb/mo download allowance.

Download allowance? Is that for comcast only?

Yep Comcast only, I think Time Warner is at 60gb in some areas? something ridiculous. Its being put into place across the country for the last year, and offer NO WAY of monitoring your traffic.

If anything and you want to try it there shouldn't be a contract, but maybe an installation fee.

I just got a message from comcast yesterday evening saying that they now have a beta tool available to monitor usage. I didn't try it out, if it's like everything else comcast it won't work for another year.

Comcast is slowly rolling out a monitoring page, so you can see what kind of traffic you are doing.

Latencies will more likely be lower with cable, then DSL. It really depends if it's one specific server/location you want lower latencies, or if you just want lower all around.
