Do comapnies really check you transcript?

Until last quarter I wouldn't have been afraid of someone looking at my transcript. But after 3 C's and 1 B, my future lies with those who don't check transcripts.

RadioShack CEO resigns over resume controversy

yep. don't freakin' lie on your resume or misstate anything. It doesn't matter who you are, it will catch up to you.

once you get that ding it is hard to erase unless you move way across the country.

Unless you're the CEO of Radio Shack no one will know of facade-ish ways.

you have much to learn young one.

much to learn.

Okay, explain to me how applying to company XYZ of 15 employees and lying about your GPA will ever be found out by another company?

LOL I would've guessed it was Syringer who would be so ignorant.

Do big companies always check? Like IBM/Cisco?

Before I got my job at cisco, they asked for my GPA. I lied. They never checked.

Well I didn't outright lie, I said my major GPA was above what they asked for which it was. Not my cumulitive.

When I interviewed with EDS (8 or so years ago) they asked me to bring my actual friggin' degree with me to the interview.

Almost couldn't get it because my parents had it locked away in their fire safe.

when i worked for accenture, they checked it. official transcript had to be sent. some guy got fired after two weeks on the job when they realized he lied

Answer: References, for one...

Wtf would you list a company who didn't hire you because you mislead them as a reference for a new hiring company to call?

Please post other reasons from this supposed endless list of yours because number "one" is retarded as hell.

"So Mr. Simms, do you have any references that we can call?"
"Oh, sure you can call this company that was going to hire me but actually didn't because I kind of exaggerated on my resume in regards to my GPA and they caught me."

LOL, I've heard some horror stories of I-banks being notorious for meticulously checking every transcript and reference submitted. Friend told me about a guy he started work with at Lehman after graduation, and how they weren't hardly 2 weeks into training when HR let him go because he lied about being valedictorian in high school and winning some award.

When they ask for your GPA, do they usually mean cumulative or major GPA? Is it ok if I tell them the one that's higher if they just ask for my GPA?

I recently interviewed for four jobs... only ONE job asked me for my GPA. I told them the truth. My GPA is horrible. Anyone could have a better GPA than me. But they hired me anyway. Cause of my experience. I don't want to work for ANY COMPANY that won't give me a chance based off my GPA.

i interviewed with a huge company, they asked for GPA before the interview (i 'doctored' it for a favorable number) just to take note. they asked to bring a copy for the 2nd interview (on-site)... they never asked to see that... i held onto it the whole day until i signed a buncha paperwork and they tossed it along with that (just to have on file)

another smaller company i interviewed with asked for a copy for the 1st interview... i told them i couldnt get one on time.. no big deal

whichever is more favorable 😉

tho never LIE. you can spin it... ie Major GPA, or include transfer GPA/community college GPA (if thats better).

spin it reasonably...but never straight out lie.
