I always wondered if CMOS batteries like a CR2032 which is by far the most common are actually recharging when the computer is plugged in, or do they function only as source of power?
Not the typical CR2032 type coin batteries. There are some specialty stuff that trickle charges but its not used on commodity desktop or most server hardware. There were some rechargeable batts used years and years ago, like before 1994.
