Do civil rights organizations and racism benefit each other?

Before we begin, I wish to say that racism is wrong, especially violent racism.

Do civil rights organizations and racism benefit each other? Without racism, could civil rights organizations exist?

A Missouri city is being sued by the Ku Klux Klan for the right to distribute racist literature by placing handbills onto the windshields of parked vehicles. And guess who is representing the white supremacists in court?

The American Civil Liberties Union – one of the oldest human right defending organizations in the US – has come to the aid of one of the oldest and most notorious American racist groups.

The Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan (TAK) is being prohibited by an ordinance of the city of Cape Girardeau, MO from distributing flyers onto cars parked in public places, the Courthouse News reports.

The group claims that while it may be racist, its intentions are peaceful and they should therefore be able to exercise their right to free speech in this way. Its intentions in distributing handbills are simply to“spread its message widely,”the Klan says.

The American Civil Liberties Union is defending the Ku Klux Klan in court. How much more ironic can we get?

Without racism the KKK would fade away.

Without civil rights violations, the American Civil Liberties Union would fade away as well.

If we want both groups to go away, stop racism, and uphold each others civil rights. Without one group, there would be no need for the other.

ACLU has defended the KKK, Nazis and other notorious right wing groups dozens of times. The "agenda" of the ACLU is not political but rather to protect and preserve our Constitutional rights for ALL citizens.

The American Civil Rights Liberties is different from the Civil Rights Movement. You will always have discrimination, so yes these type groups will always be with us, as they should.

This is why individual liberty means so much more than people could ever imagine. If America actually gave a damn, we honestly wouldn't have a huge amount of the problems we have had we simply understood what individual liberties actually meant.

Can't have one without the other, unfortunately the "other" doesn't really prevent the "one" from occurring to begin with. Just another excuse to gather people and where you gather people, you gather $$$...kinda like religion huh

but what if the guvment stops intruding too.....then what!!! do we panic?, i say we panic.

It's easy for ACLU to defend KKK because the KKK is almost non-exitent. Robert Byrd was a KKK recuiter for 20 years and he kept getting re-elected with not a squeak from his Dem party.
