Do chips with disabled cores always have the same cores disabled?

Like the 3930k has two cores disabled, is it always the same two that are turned off or could it vary?

To illustrate what i mean:

Top is two left cores disabled, bottom is two middle cores, same end result though.

I would imagine that since the disabled parts are binned parts that they could be the two that happen to be defective, regardless of positioning. I am not sure, though.

No, any core can be disabled. Same with cache blocks. :)

Interesting, this may explain the varied temperature differences between chips.

My core 4 can be at 70*C whilst other cores are at 53, some are 66 etc. Heatsink defo seated properly. Some people seem to have more consistent temps, whilst others have a wide variation like me but on different cores.

This could definitely be it, but I want to point out that this can also be caused by uneven distribution of thermal compound between the die and the heat spreader (from when it was packaged).
