Do cell phone plans charge at the begining of the month?

My contract started the beginning of September and my first bill was double. It is now the December and its a total of 4 bills so far if I count that double. If it was end of the month charges it should be three right?
 
Depends on the company. Some pro-rate and bill on the same day, others bill you monthly on your start date.
 
Mine (T-mobile) charges at the end of the month. I think they asked which I preferred when I first signed on with them.
