Do cell phone companies allow you to cancel service, and reactivate a new one?

So that you can get the new subscriber deals? (i.e. Amazon's S105 for $-50 AR only for new subscribers on T-Mobile)

New subscriber deals, no. But you can upgrade your service plan to a more expensive one without charge (and why not).

If you cancel today your ATT contrat for instance, you have to wait 6 months I think to become an ATT subscriber again.

Watch out about doing this. Most of the time, when you change plans they will extend your contract 1 year to the date you change that plan. I've changed my plan a couple of times and just recently read the fine print and realized that I have to stick with them for another 12 months...:(

Some phone companies will also only allow you to upgrade your plan and never downgrade it.

Ok well from reading some discussions over at howardforums, seems to be that you have to wait 90 days.....

Im not interested in changing my plan, and ive done it numerous times up and down without incurring a year contract... Just lookin at gettin a new phone...

Yes but you usually have to 1) pay a cancellation fee and 2) wait for 30 to 90 days before you qualify as a "new customer" again.

Read you contract, there is usually a clause in thier about canceling to get new service, I know I'm a CRS for Cingular Wireless

If you have fulfilled your contract, Cingular will let you sign a new contract and take advantage of any new subscriber details. Not sure about cancelling and starting a new contract.
