Do cd's warp in a "album" case instead of jewel case?

I bought a 200 cd disc holder album to keep the archives in, but a friend said that they'll be liable to warp in there. But jewel cases get bulky when you keep redundant disks. Any stories out there?

I have 4 48 slot CD wallets with Playstation Games, CDROMs, Audio CDs and DVDs in them. All of the discs work perfectly fine after months of storage in there.

Did he also try to sell you a $30 marker pen to draw around the edge of your cd's to make them sound better? 😉

I have seen 1 warped cd, it was a driver disk in a DVD kit must have been flexed at least 20deg.
The thing had been sitting around a compusa for almost a year.

I too have actually warped one.. I had a cd which i was using as as coaster for my glade candle scent thingys.. well after about an hour. i touched the cd and it was burning hot. I looked at it and it was warped.

I keep a huge cd case (holds 200 of them, though it's only about half full) and all of them stay straight and work fine.

How are you storing them, though? Are you laying all of the books down? (horizontal) Or are you standing up on their edge? (vertical)

Its an old myth that was true for vinyl records which had grooves in them which could wear down if laid flat but, as you know, CD's do not have grooves on the surface.

I got a warped cd once. I got a Memorex cd label stomper- pressed labels on to cds, and it came with a cd that had templates. That cd was in the bottom of the box in a little plastic sleeve, and it was warped. I put that baby in my cdrom and it rattled so bad I thought it was going to break up. I tried pressing it flat with a stack of books and I heated it up with a hair dryer and tried to flatten it. Nothing worked, so I bent it the rest of the way and broke it, but it shattered into a thousand pieces and took me nearly a half hour to clean up.
