Do CDRW drives contribute to heat inside case?

I am building an audio workstation PC, but can't decide between getting an internal or external CDRW drive. What are the general advantages or disadvantages? I was mainly wondering if having an external CDrom would improve the cooling inside the case, even if a little?
 
my computer system temp jumped ~1-2C when i added another CDRW drive, for me it's in no way enough to justify an external drive, internal is just so much cheaper and such less a hassle
 
It only adds heat when you are using it... and unless you're burning 50 cd's in a row (which isn't good on the drive anyways) it wont heat the case up enough to justify buying an external (more expensive) drive.

Really? Lol looks like my liteon is that reliable then ^_^ When i backup data I usually do it once every two months and i do EVERYTHING- if its useless, I backup so my CDRW has been hit hard (but i feel its worth it though- to be able to have complete backups, even with a lot of redudant stuff that doesn't change is worth the "safeness" factor 2 me )

The drive will only produce heat when used (as will any component with moving parts). However, I don't think it matters too much if you "burn 50 CDs in a row" as far as what is "good for the drive". CD duplication systems do more than 50 in a row. And they are nothing more than specialized cases with a half-dozen run-of-the-mill CD-RW drives. This may lead to a relatively sooner breakdown, because many (all?) devices are rated by MTBF. That is basically hours of use. If you use your CD-RW for 50 hours straight or 50 hours over a few months the drive may seem to last longer... In any event, if you need to burn that many CDs in a row, this should not be a reason not too. You aren't really prolonging the use of the drive if you don't use it, or limit use to burn the same 50 CDs over a longer period. Bottom line here is that yes, the drive will produce heat. It won't produce enough to cause a problem unless your case is of such uber-suckage in the first place and you are so borderline stable that the mere act of spinning up a CD causes you to crash. In that case, it doesn't matter, you really have bigger problems than the CD drive...
