I ask cuz I'm watching Critters right now.
Some dude left corn, ham, and bread rolls for his cat.
My cat never ate bread. He always ate ham. We never gave him corn.

Cats are only really capable of processing nutrients from dead animals and the souls of the unborn. In other words, they eat things that eat corn. Ham is a good idea, although chicken is lower in nitrates and probably easier on the kidneys.

Some cat food uses soy protein and whatnot, but it's basically been processed so they can digest it successfully.

That said, cats are wired pretty much like humans w/r/t salt, sugar, and fat. If the corn in question had, say, butter and salt on it, it would at least get licked clean, if not eaten. We have one cat with a pretty bad sweet tooth, and another that will go after my Bailey's. Some like the taste of catnip and/or certain grasses. No nutritional value, but they're chewy.

Cats with "food insecurity" (abandoned or starved as kittens) will eat pretty much anything. We fostered one like that. Only one I've ever seen eat bread.

Not sure, but I had a cat once that ate my chia pet. I kept noticing bare spots showing up on it, just thought the stuff was dying or something. Then came in one day and there he was, mouth full, guilty look on his face.

I called my local petco and they don't carry souls of the unborn. Is there a good place to find souls of the unborn?

Just bring a pregnant women to a cat and have her take a nap - the cat will curl up on top of her and start making this really weird noise. That's the soul transfer.

I had a cat when I was a kid that would eat peas and baked beans. :)

A lot of cat food is actually mostly corn and/or wheat based. That stuff is probably bad for them but they'll eat it and it will keep them alive. My cat prefers meat based foods though. You pay more for it, but it's not THAT much more in the grand scheme of things, not like I'm buying cat food every day.

Cats will sometimes eat oddball stuff if they are intrigued by it as being something new. My cat likes chips, and cheesies as far as exotic cat food goes. Never tried actual corn. Generally I avoid letting her eat stuff like that though. She loves to eat paper, too. That tissue paper in gifts is her favorite, I need to keep that stuff away from her, she goes nuts.

Also noticed an interesting bug in this house, if a small piece of chicken falls on the ground when I'm preparing something, my cat will automatically be summoned to that location. I should probably file a bug report.

Waiting for does corn eat cats parodies before contributing.

Time for remake of attack of the killer tomatoes but with corn?

But seriously a lot of cheap cat food uses that and grains because it's cheap and should be avoided if you can.

Yep, one of my cats loves corn tortillas. However, it isn't good for them. Cats get diabetes.

My cats have not tried to feast on my flesh yet. That said, I often engage in eating pussy.

I have 2 cats. 1 will eat dry kibble and cat treats only, will eat some wet cat food but not most, he is the most particular eater i have ever seen for a cat, which is especially strange because when we adopted(by adopted i mean took home from tow yard i worked at) him he was starving to death, like you could see his ribs his face was sunken in and he was about 5-6lbs underweight. someone had obviously left there indoor cat outside and abandoned him and he was struggling to survive, likely would not have made it another few weeks when we took him in. That was 8 years ago he is doing great now.

My other cat will eat damn near anything, ive seen her eat any and all meats in any form(raw, cooked, jerky, salami, pepperoni, sausages) particularly bacon is probably her favorite, she eats cheese, likes beer and whiskey, eats some flavors of chips, pasta, loves the cheese sauce from mac and cheese if i eat a pot of M&C and put it on the floor after she will eat any leftover pasta and lick the pot clean. seen her eat rice and beans as well. Not bread though.
