Do burned audio CD's eventually ruin your CD player?

I burn alot of music Cd's to listen in the car on my JVC CD player (dont know model # right now). Before it would eject some of the old dark blue Hi-Val ones, which I heard the darker color CD's wouldnt work in some car cd players.

But now it seems to be rejecting most of my CD's. I believe once it dumped out one of my bought CD's from the store. I have a feeling my CD player is screwed and I wondering if anyone else had similar experiences. Thanks :)

I cannot imagine how burned CDs could hurt your car player. Your player might have some problem, but not because of the burned CDs.

Burned CDs are not as reflective as a pressed CD-ROM because the dye layer absorbs some of the laser light. Its not uncommon for standalone CD/DVD players to not recognize a burned CDRs (CDRW are even worse). I can confirm that JVCs have problems playing burned CDs but it will in no way cause harm.

Thanks for the replies, its just that CD's that used to work before no longer work. I hope its not my player going bad. Its always a hassle to get it changed.

You say it is a car Cd player, which become dirty fast. Sounds like you need to get your car player cleaned.

Yea, the laser probably has a little dirt on it and you need one of those cleaner kits to brush the dirt off the lens.
