Do Best Buy Employees get a good discount?

I am thinking about buying $1500 worth of car audio stuff, and if I could save $400-500 I would get a job there for a few weeks to get the employee discount... Anyone have any information for me?

From what i understand...

5% above cost on most everything... 50% off car audio installations...

Correct, but also 50% off of any other services. Services like delivery, computer upgrades, etc.

Does your discount start the day you start, or do you have to work a month? I would prefer to be an in-and-out employee 🙂

Yeah...I had a friend who worked at in-and-out and she said they treat their employees really well there 🙂

<< the discount starts after 3 months >>

It was 30 days for me. On the 31st day, I was able to make purchases using my discount. Have they since changed the policy?

<< So how much would I save on a big screen TV that costs like say $2000, anyone know? >>

It would be 5% over wholesale. It really depends on the brand and markup. Probably anywhere from $100-$400. Of course that is just a guess range. It could be more or less.

well it varies form item to item and also the departments.

but i bought a 36in wega

retail 1699 i got it for 1154

My discounted started 30 days after I started working there. For seasonal employees it starts the first day you work. The amount you get off certain products varies alot. Any type of cables or wiring you are pretty much gauranteed at least 200% off Ex. $29.99 Monster Video Cable for $2.75. On newer technologies (computers, notebooks, digi cams.) there is virtually no markup so very little discount. Usually at least 50% off PSP and PRP. $150 digital camcorder PSP for $24. All the audio equipment is really marked up alot. I got my mom a $150 Sony cd car deck for $100.
