I can't do anything with them. They refuse to be downloaded, they only play like two seconds of video before they have to rebuffer, which takes thirty seconds, and then they play two seconds of video before starting the same crap all over again. What gives?

Well they do suck, but not with the problems your talking about, your player probably thinks you have more bandwidth then you do, or you are trying to get a movie from a very busy site.

I heard that they have some really crazy ways of storing the data.. you know how MP3 data is all in one piece, in correct order.

well ASF is supposedly so messed up, becuase the data is thrown all over the file that you play. I have one ASF file using Divx compression for a Star Trek Episode, and it's the weirdest thing, it is pretty bad, compared to my AVI files compressed with Divx..

All I know is that I have absoltely NO PROBLEMS with avi's, mpg's, mov's, or even streaming Real Media - just this stupid asf format. And this is the second machine with the same problem. I have a T1 so bandwidth is NOT the issue. It has to be something to do with the format.

At 64kbps, It is meant to have the same quality as a CD,

This is with reference to audio, and v8 of the encoder.

I do not know about video.
