Do any USB-C hubs/adapters work with the new Macbooks?

I'm not asking for a guarantee that any cheap load of tat off ebay will work to turn the two USB-C ports on a Macbook into something useful, I just want to know if Apple have done anything underhand that anyone is aware of that say only Apple's adapters will work in those ports.
 
I'm not aware of anything weird and proprietary that Apple may be doing. I know there are people that swear by the Apple branded dongles since they do tend to work more reliably, but they aren't blocking 3rd party dongles. I used a cheap-ish adapter off Amazon that gave me 3 USB 3 (A) ports, an SD card, ethernet, HDMI out, and USB-C PD passthrough and it worked great even with almost everything connected (i never had a reason to connect everything all at once).
