Do any of you own an ASUS a7k laptop?

I'm just grasping for straws right now. I just bought one used in great shape, but it was built w/ vista 64 drivers.

Obviously I want to stay away from VISTA so I installed Win7 Home premium. Unfortunately I cannot find any windows 7 drivers!

I have EVERYTHING working fine on this except the sound.
Whats odd is the sound drivers install (native windows drivers) but still no sound.
I can go external, but would like to have pc speakers when I need to view a movie or something online.

I was just hoping maybe if you have one you have a fix.

And before I get anyone saying anything, I have absolutely GOOGLED this many times.

Thanks for any help!

When you say, "can go external," do you mean that there is sound output from the headphone jack or do you mean that you can just get an external sound card?

Have you tried using the Vista driver for Windows 7? You can download it from the Asus site.

From the icons in the Vista driver package from Asus, it looks like a RealTek codec/chip was used for audio, so you could try downloading the driver directly from RealTek if the Asus Vista driver doesn't work.

Yes I mean i can just hook up a usb soundblaster.
I did try the driver for vista to no avail.

I will give realtek direct a try, thanks for your help!

Nice, I feel like I should pay you something.
Im embarrassed that I didn't think to look at the actual realtek sight.

Thanks again!
