The bathroom lights are motion sensored? That would really suck if they were set on like a 3 minute timer. You'd have just enough time to sit down and start doing your business when everything goes black... :p

Lucky for me one of the lights that stays on all the time is close to my cube so no getting up for me. Generally if I am working in the office instead of on site I am in by 0545 and have the place to myself for an hour or so and am the one tripping all the motion sensors.

All of our offices have motion sensored lights.

As long as you move a little bit in your chair they stay on. There are two sensors, one high up that pretty much faces your chair/desk and the other is where the light switch would normally be.

You should get some type of motorized doll thing to put on your desk and move for you. Always make fun of stupidity. Always.

Lights, no.

Huge motion activated garage type doors, yes. It makes me feel like Jesus and stuff when I walk towards a huge door and it opens to allow my entry. And i think the CIA is monitoring my hand scans on the scanners. :Q:disgust:

I know exactly what you are talking about. As part of the lighting retrofit program offered by SCE a majority of the office buildings in Southern California as well as other states were giving out rebate on the usage of electricity. To cut back on the electrical usage they did what you called a lighting retrofit where they take a typical 2' X 4' lighting fixture that uses 4 lamps T-12 lamps and converted them to a 2 lamp fixture using T-8 lamps and reflectors. The part that you are annoyed about where it turns off every 5 minutes is from the motion sensors that are placed in the common areas on ceiling tiles which usually come in pairs that activates a relay pack. They also have Watt Stoppers installed in lieu of light switches which will turn off if the sensor does not detect motion will turn off the switch in about 30 minutes.
If you have to get up every 5 minutes to turn the light off that means the delay on the motion sensor needs to be increased. What you need to do is call the contact person for your office and have him or her call the customer service representative for the office of the building. They can dispatch a maintenance personnel to take care of the problem. Usually all the maintenance tech has to do is open the cover up and change the setting on a couple of dip switches which will then take care of the problem.

I do. But they almost never go out by themselves. Even slight motions turn them on. I am very restless at work anyways.

That's moronic; office work is by nature sedentary...who's wonderful idea was it to have them motion activated?
Maybe you could get one of those Drinking Bird things and put it in front of the motion sensor.:)

There's a meeting room in my dorm like that... we finally stopped having staff meetings there because of the annoyance.
