I'm still going to have to go to Stanford on the 24th and I need to find out a couple of things. I'm going to be seen by a doc there and the appointment is early in the morning. We're going to drive up the night before and stay the night. I need to know of decent places to stay that aren't too expensive. I really don't have the money to do this AT ALL, but I have to since no docs here will see me.

Do you know if the university hospital has a place for patients to stay? Some do. I need all the help I can get, thank you.

Not sure about a place to stay that's affiliated with the hospital, but there are plenty of motels in the immediate vicinity that aren't expensive, and are maintained quite well.

If you can't get into the Motel 6 in Palo Alto, then there are 2 Motel 6's across the street from each other a little south of Stanford in Sunnyvale, at about the 101 Fwy @ Mathilda. The bigger newer one on the West (North) side is nice, the smaller one across the street is ratty.

They're close to the freeway off/on ramps, and Stanford University campus is about 15-20 min drive North. Allow plenty of extra driving time to Stanford due to probable rush hour traffic.

Motel 6 Sunnyvale North #1054
775 North Mathilda Avenue
Sunnyvale, CA 94086
(408)736-4595

Motel 6 Palo Alto #41
4301 El Camino Real
Palo Alto, CA 94306
(650)949-0833

If you plan to also visit the city, then there's another big Motel 6 at Belmont a little north of Stanford, but that'd give you a base closer to SF.

I'm going to the Internal Medicine/Medical Specialties Clinic. It's the Boswell Building. Ring any bells? Are you there? If you are. . . .maybe we could say hi. :D

the stanford hospital website is useless, yeesh. well that clinic is located inside the stanford hospital, which is on campus.

i can't really recommend anything, but palo alto won't have any cheap hotels. (now there is a four seasons if you are interested...) if you want a cheaper hotel, you should look up hotels in mountain view or in sunnyvale. sunnyvale is as far south as you should go in case you just want to drive city streets back and forth, since traffic can be slow in the morning during rush hour. you want to look for hotels on el camino to make it a little easier for you, since el camino should take you straight up into stanford. el camino will hit university/palm, and you take palm into the campus.

actually, there are some small hotels right off the 101, their names are escaping me... argh there is a ramada RIGHT off 101 and lawrence expressway, but i found this ramada:

ramada in santa clara

it's on el camino, so you can take el camino all the way up to stanford. (bring a map with you! make sure you're going in the right direction on el camino!) website said a queen bed for 68 a night.

I finally got a place today. I went to the hospital site today and on the lodging page they have a .pdf page of a list of hotels and it helped me with my decision.

Thanks, y'all for all your help. Much appreciated.
