i participate in Judo, i suck tho, but it's fun and keeps me in shape. Do any of you other people participate in any kind of martial art?...jus wonderin'
I took ju-jitsu for a year when I was living in the suburbs of chicago, but its hard to find dojo's let alone good one's, so no more. it didn't make me a killer, but I did learn some cool stuff fast, and it was more excersise than I was getting at my desk.
When I was young my father took me to Chinatown and I was offered the opportunity to learn martial arts but I was too shy (and afraid of those sharp long swords in display) and declined.
I now kind of regret my decision because I wish I did know martial arts. It's just so cool looking and can be a beautiful art form (especially when a hot girl is doing it)...
Yessir, a large part of my free time is taken by training, started in american kenpo, some small circle jujitsu, and now mostly do ryu kyu kempo and modern arnis, I love it.

I had the same problem as you. when I was about 11, my dad took me to this really great aikido instructor, at least according to my dad, but when I stepped into the dojo just to spectate, the kids in there gave me a hell of a nasty look that seems to say "you join and I'll bend you into a pretzel." after that, I gave him excuses as to why I didn't want to join.
now, I'm in tae kwon do. I was never interested in martial arts but after my dad signed me up, I love it. problem is, I spend more time reading about tkd and watching movies than I do practicing it
btw, there are video clips of various martial arts that teaches you some moves:
