Do any of those Disc Doctor things actually work?

I have a pile of CDs with scratches that I'd like to restore to like-new condition. Do any of those automatic disc cleaners actually work or are they all snakeoil?

It depends on the severity of the the scratches, I've used one on a few music CD's & PS2 games and they helped, mind you they were minor scratches 🙂

Well, I installed my old Opposing Force CD tonight. It installed fine, but I hate lugging around the disc because it's on a laptop. So I fired up Nero ImageDrive to burn an image to the hard drive so that I could run the game from the virtual CD, but it was getting tons of errors. I took a look at the disc and sure enough, it's scratched up pretty good. Not huge deep scratches, but scratches from not being kept in the CD case all the time. It installed fine but gave me multiple errors when making the image.
